What the estimate can and cannot know

The driveway area and depth produce a geometric volume. That part can be checked with ordinary arithmetic. The delivered order is less exact because real gravel changes with stone type, moisture, gradation, compaction, and how the supplier sells it.

Keep the calculation honest by using two layers of certainty. First calculate volume from measured dimensions. Then label density, compaction, and waste as purchase assumptions that should be confirmed before the order is placed.
